Spring School of Spectroscopic Data Analyses

Determination of Atmospheric Parameters of B, A, F and G type stars

8–12 April 2013, Wrocław, Poland

IRAF

Image Reduction and Analysis Facility (IRAF) is a software for the reduction and analysis of astronomical data. All necessary information about IRAF and how to install it can be found here:

    http://iraf.noao.edu/

The pdf file with the atlas of ThAr lines useful for calibration can be downloaded from here .

ATLAS9

ATLAS9 package for the determination of stellar atmospheres is available on at R. L. Kurucz web page, together with a database of model grids, opacity grids and line lists:

     http://kurucz.harvard.edu/

Another important source of information about ATLAS9 and how to install and compile it is Atmos webbage:

     http://atmos.obspm.fr/index.php/

And Fiorella Castelli's web page:

     http://wwwuser.oat.ts.astro.it/castelli/

ATLAS9 code and compilation instructions from Tatiana Ryabchikova can be taken from here:

SME

Spectroscopy Made Easy (SME) is IDL software and a compiled external library that fits an observed high-resolution stellar spectrum with a synthetic spectrum to determine stellar parameters and abundances. All necessary codes, tutorials and manuals can be foud here:

     http://www.astro.uu.se/~piskunov/RESEARCH/RT_3D/

And the instruction for installation (from Nikolai Piskunov):

SIU

Spectrum Investigation Utility (SIU) is IDL software (Johannes Reetz, Munich) for the determination of stellar atmospheric parameters and chemical composition. All necessary codes and installation information can be downloaded here:

ARES

ARES is a C code developed for the measurement of Equivalent Width of absorption lines in stellar spectra. All necessary codes and manuals can be downloaded from here:

MOOG

MOOG performs an LTE line analysis and spectrum synthesis. All necessary codes and manuals can be taken from here:
